NAXFL PLAYER POSITION CHANGES

Disclaimer: This document attempts to cover all possibilities. In order to eliminate loopholes, if one wishes to try a possibility not covered by this document, it must be approved by the league. This document may be changed without notice should flaws in its application become apparent. It is fairly rare that players, once they reach the professional level, change positions. The skill sets involved have become too specialized to allow this. Therefore to mimic this the following restrictions on changes are in place.

There are two types of position switches, permanent and temporary. A temporary switch is a move made for short term reasons, such as an injury replacement for one game, or use of a non-standard player at a position, such as starting a WR at RB. A permanent switch would be a case where a player is moved to an entirely new position for the season or any longer stretch of games. You do not have to declare a permanent switch for these changes (in other words, it can be a season long temporary switch), but it does have an advantage in certain situations.

A temporary switch is made by moving the player to his new position in the starting lineup in the .nfl file. An example of this would be moving (by putting their number in the starting spot) a RB to TE2 for one game to replace an injured starter. A permanent switch is made by changing the player's position designation in the player listing in the .nfl file. An example of this would be changing the designation of a RB to TE whether the player starts or not.

T
he advantage of permanently changing positions shows when the computer coach is selecting injury replacements. If, for example, your starter at TE2 gets hurt for a few minutes the computer coach will select a backup TE, WR or a RB (likely in that order of preference). If you are starting an out of position player (temporary switch) there the computer coach will not likely place him back in the lineup at TE2, even after they recover from their injury, if a player ahead of them in the selection order is available.

Permanent changes can only be made with the following restrictions:
